Mythos Gourmet Greek Food Truck is the first truck to specialize in Greek food, straight from the hills of Santorini itself! Their Pita Souvlaki, both meat and veggie options, is absolutely to die for. They use the freshest farm ingredients topped off with their authentically delicious tzatziki sauce. If you thought a former mortuary was a place to be avoided, except on Halloween or when double-dog-dared by a mischievous friend, think again. The redevelopment of the vacant Olinger mortuary complex at West 30th Avenue & Tejon Street in LoHi (adjacent to Little Man Ice Cream) is just weeks away from being fully baked. Once complete, it will house not only the LoHi Athletic Club, but a restaurant, a women’s clothing boutique and a furniture store–a far cry from the days when Buffalo Bill Cody’s body was stored there while both Wyoming and Colorado laid claim to his remains. Though the new tenants to the property can’t compete with the historical significance of Buffalo Bill’s Wild West, they ought to pique both your...

Baker, one of Denver's most historic areas, is a vibrant urban neighborhood that includes a diverse urban population, preserved historic homes, casual and fine dining, and an array of entertainment, as well as access to mass transit. One of our favorite areas of this neighborhood is the South Broadway retail district, bookended by old staples such as the Hornet and the 1930s Mayan Theatre, which shows independent and foreign films and serves beer, booze and movies! Sold yet? At the other end of South Broadway is a fine dining escape into an aspen forest at

Are your neon fanny packs and legwarmers still in your closet just in case you need them? When you heard Duran Duran was touring again, did you run to the phone to get the gang back together? If the above statements describe you, then you must attend Totally Tennyson, a taste of Northwest Denver school fundraising event with an '80s twist. This unique event will involve local Berkeley District businesses like Berkeley Inn (also the owner of DJ’s Berkeley Café), Rocket Pack & Ship, Graphics Department and MODesTEA, the largest sponsors thus far of this nonprofit event! All of the money raised will go to eight Denver public elementary schools, so come on down and escape into that ‘80s-themed reality you’ve been dying to get back...

If you had it your way, parking around town would be a whole lot easier. With the addition of overnight parking meters and special meters that are set aside for hybrid cars only, we might be getting one step closer. In the next few months over 3,000 parking meters will be swapped for programmable Smart Meters that will allow drivers to park their cars from 2am - 8am Monday thru Saturday nights, while Sundays will remain free. Smart Meters are solar powered, wireless, parking meters that accept coins as well as credit/debit cards and have digital screens to better communicate with you. Hybrid cars may be in luck as well. We’ve found one hybrid meter downtown so far on 17th & Glenarm St., but we’re sure...

Summer is fast approaching, and along with it, lots of opportunities to see live music. Below are some of our favorite spots to catch a good show around Denver and in the mountains. Comfort Dental Amphitheatre As outdoor music auditoriums go, Comfort Dental Amphitheatre (formerly known as Fiddlers Green) is something exceptional. They get the big acts, as well as the small ones. The outdoor area is perfect for relaxing on a warm summer night, or if you’re in the mood to get your party started with acts like Def Leppard, you can do that, too. Don’t solely count on Red Rocks for your al fresco concert season this summer. This amphitheater has everything the big one does. Look online to find...

People get attached to history (like that long, drawn-out one with your high school boyfriend). But sometimes moving forward can be good. You could start by checking out this year's Doors Open Denver. On April 16 and 17, the city of Denver will host a unique opportunity for the public to have free tours of over 70 of the city’s most recognized architectural gems. It will give you glimpses of the past, but with a fresh new modern twist. This year's theme is Modern Architecture: 50’s and Beyond. Visitors are free to tour many of the city's more modern buildings, most of which are normally closed to the public. A sampling of the buildings taking part in this year’s...

You may not be aware of this, but Denver has quite the wide variety of professional and community theatres around town, each interpreting the experience of live theatre and audience reaction in unique ways. Our theatre scene is one of Denver's top cultural attractions. While the Denver Center for the Performing Arts is always a great place to see the latest on-and off-Broadway shows, we wanted to share a few other spots around town that promise to provide some great entertainment as well. The Bug Theatre Originally built in 1912 as a nickelodeon movie house, The Bug survived years of dormancy and renovations before becoming the Bug Performance and Media Arts Center in 1994. ‘Tis the season to be thankful for all that you have and to share with those that are less fortunate. We have picked a few of our favorite Denver-based charities to share with you in case you're looking for a new and trustworthy place to support. Family HomeStead If you’re looking for a place to donate your time, money, or assistance this holiday season – don’t bypass Denver’s Family HomeStead. For over 30 years the Colorado non-profit has worked to provide safe, secure independent housing for homeless families with children. New restaurants are always getting the hype around town. What about those that have been around through the years and are now the continuous staples of your existence? Well, we wanted to pay homage to those that have been our favorites for years and hope you'll check them out if you haven't already. Now that summer is winding down, what are we going to do without all of the barbeques, volleyball games and long hikes on the weekends? Well, not to worry, as fall brings with it many fun events to get you out of your end-of-summer blues! One such event we're digging is at Bender's Tavern and hosted by The Parlour (as in the ultra-cool hair studios) and their design team. The event is a combination of Shear Genius and Project Runway—part fabulous hair, part runway show. The theme of the runway show is two-fold: the first segment of the show will focus on the glamour of decades past, while the second part of the show will be darker, with more whimsical and avant garde looks. |

Do you get sick of hitting up the same old spots each time you need to stock the fridge? We do. Thank goodness there are some heavenly specialty markets around town that can help you create a great menu for dinner (or have it premade for you) and inspire you to head back to the kitchen. Spinelli's Market If you're looking for a great Mom & Pop grocery that provides fresh produce and breads, and knows your name when you walk in the door even though it's almost as large as the national stores in town, then Spinelli's is the place for you. This wonderful Park Hill market has been around since the early 90s and provides gourmet foods and Italian specialties. They also serve as a sandwich and catering company for the surrounding neighborhood,...

Sometimes you just need to get away from the city. Go for a drive, get outdoors, see the beautiful mountains that surround us and remember why we live in this amazing state. We thought we would give you a few ideas of spots to check out when those days arrive. Buck Snort Saloon Although its only a 45-minute drive up scenic Highway 285, the Buck Snort Saloon feels worlds away from the stresses of the city. This legendary Colorado saloon is known not only for its half-pound Buck Burger, but also for its funky, relaxed log cabin-esque interior. Graffiti, love notes and dollar bills (among many other items) are tacked to the walls, and if you can find space, you too can document your visit in permanent ink. Regulars and visitors alike come...

The 4th of July is here which means it's time to show your patriotism! Since cheering on the World Cup team is no longer an option, we must show our pride in other ways. You could don your best red, white and blue outfit, cover it with sparklers and hit the town singing "God Bless America." But that could get a little dangerous. The best way to spend the night feeling patriotic is by heading down to Civic Center Park on the eve of Independence Day, where the Colorado Symphony Orchestra is playing gratis as part of their summer concert series. The entire evening will be a celebration of our nation, as you sit and listen to such classics as “The Star Spangled Banner” and “Stars and Stripes...

Goodbye winter, hello bikini! Don’t you wish you were one of those people just itching to show off their six-pack in a tiny two-piece? It seems a little far-fetched to be of this mindset; however, with a little extra support and some new eating habits, this may not be completely wacky. It’s the most wonderful time of the year. Well…that is until you realize you cannot walk into any retail store or by any holiday window without panicking, already overwhelmed by how far behind you are in your holiday shopping. Wow. That is slightly daunting. And you still want to make sure your gifts are original and meaningful, reflecting just how much you care about each of these people. Growing up, you were always wishing for snow. It meant no school, sledding with your neighbors and lots of hot chocolate (with plenty of whipped cream and marshmallows). In the adult world, snow doesn't always mean we get to stay home from work and play anymore, but it's not necessarily a bad thing to wish for when you live in the winter wonderland of Colorado. October is here! All you can think about, besides the looming powder days of ski season, are those fabulous fall afternoons when you were a kid. You can smell the crisp air as you drove through the forests of yellow and orange leaves in your family’s station wagon, complete with wooden siding. You can see the fresh red apples that your father lifted you up to grab on your annual apple orchard visit. You can taste the warm cinnamon cider that greeted you after a many long school days. While all these memories generate colossal smiles, there was nothing as special as going to the pumpkin farms to collect what would be your Halloween jack-o-lanterns right off the vines! Those days don’t have to be part of your past.
